Program description

The Nhlangano AIDS Training Information and Counselling Centre (NATICC) is a non-profit making Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was established in the year 2002. The project seeks to assist the government of Eswatini prevent and respond to the escalating rates of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and school dropouts due to Teenage Pregnancy (TP) in marginalized communities.


NATICC is seeking a qualified and experienced professional in Gender Based Violence, with particular experience in Gender Based Violence (GBV), Teenage Pregnancy (TP) prevention and Case management to work as a GBV prevention Officer. The GBV Prevention Officer will implement GBV project(s), as well as design strategies and mobilize the community to respond to emerging gender issues.  The GBV Prevention officer will promote, organize, manage and coordinate Gender Based Violence interventions for NATICC in the Shiselweni region. As part of a dynamic team at NATICC, S/h will be called upon to design new interventions based on needs analysis using behavior change strategies

Primary duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, plan and implement GBV prevention & response activities in target communities in the Shiselweni Region;
  • Ensure community members including men, women and youth are mobilized to participate in anti-GBV activities in marginalized communities, churches and schools.
  • Develop interventions including awareness raising, trainings, and support to community-based protection structures to strengthen GBV prevention and response based on data;
  • Ensure all planned training sessions take place as per the objectives;
  • Organize, attend or facilitate workshops and training sessions for community members, change agents, and support groups;
  • Promote a positive profile of the GBV program among other sectors, partners and the target communities;
  • Develop and maintain positive and professional working relationship with other agencies.
  • Develop awareness raising and staff training programs to raise awareness on GBV
  • Participate in the development and production of GBV and TP prevention IEC materials;
  • Develop referral pathways depending on the available services and the survivors’ needs;

Minimum Qualifications

  • A university degree in Psychology, social work, social sciences, development studies, gender and/or women’s studies or any other related field.
  • At least 3 years previous work experience with 2 years experience relevant to the function.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken Siswati as well as English.
  • Understanding of GBV and gender relations in Eswatini.
  • Excellent writing skills including experience in drafting reports and presentations.
  • Valid driver’s license

Desirable qualifications

  • Project implementation, monitoring and evaluation experience.
  • Understanding behavior change approaches.
  • Knowledge of participatory approaches.
  • Strong computer skills: must be competent in the use of Windows, MS Office programs (Word, Excel), and email programs.


Salary according to NATICC policies and candidate’s experience and qualifications.
